PostSubject: CPR & First-Aid Training   CPR & First-Aid Training EmptyWed 23 Feb 2011 - 16:57

Hello all Sioux Falls regional chasers!

If you're interested in a CPR & First-Aid training class we are looking into having one in the area some time in March. Please PM me or Marc if you're interested. The cost will be $20 plus $5 for a face mask that you'll be able to keep after the class so a total of $25 each person.

The date hasn't been set yet... we're waiting to hear how much interest there is so please respond ASAP so we can get this marked on everyone's calander right away.

Thanks!

I think this is important for all of us. There was a discussion during one of the presentations during Chasercon and I really believe we should all have this if we intend to be out there.

Count me in!

Speaking of this topic, I just started taking an EMT class which goes 2 nights a week all the way through July. That being said, I wont get to come out west to meet up with the team and chase. I should still, however, be able to chase around home and contribute to the team as the "Indiana Chapter". Hopefully next year though, I will be able to come out. I also plan on taking the extra "national registry" test so that my EMT skills will be honored in other states besides Indiana, so hopefully that can become an assett to the team.

Most definately.... I would suggest the national anyways because if you ever decide to re-locate then you're set. That's great Brian!

Brian thats awesome! I will second Joe's comment that national is the way to go! Thats why I attended UMD for my FF certification instead of the county training

So am I Marc! I got certified in CPR back in junior high and first-aid back in 2003 when I worked at a group home. Think I'm way overdue! lol I'm also looking at taking basic EMT classes once I can afford to! They are like $900 for EMT-Basic here with the FM Ambulance.

I did EMT because it was required when I was in the fire dept but I hated every aspect of that. Mainly the area that I served. Gunshots and drunk drivers. I didn't have much of a soft heart for that.

Oh but come on! The drunks are the best! You can talk crap to them, bump them around a little extra, pull the cot out of the ambulance a little harder than normal, and do just about anything you want to get "medical aid street justice" for their crime of drunk driving and they DONT REMEMBER A THING!

Update.... we have a date set of April 30th at the All Seasons Center in Sioux Center, IA... this is a private class held by my wife Jill for anyone associated w/ EXWX. The cost is still $25 and will be collected at the beginning of class. If you have family members that would like to get certified, they are welcome also. We are still working on a time to start the class, my assumption would be that it would start early/mid-afternoon and run until 6ish, after the class we will plan on going out to eat somewhere for whoever can make it. So at this please let me know if you're going to be attending and if you have any guests. Currently I have Marc, Patty, John, Rardy, Koops, Vetter, Myself and maybe Pete... If there is anyone else please reply either in this message or PM me. Thanks,
